A Family Legacy in the Yakima Valley
Cornerstone represents a legacy of independent farming in the Yakima Valley that goes back five generations. We understand the land and and what makes good crops great.
1897
Charles and Hermaline Gamache, Graham’s great, great grandparents come to America and settle in Moxee on November 13, 1897.
1913
Graham’s great grandfather, Albert Gamache founds Sunshine Ranch.
1948
Amos and Elsie Gamache, Graham’s grandparents found Amos Gamache Farms.
1948-1950
Hops are picked by hand alongside local Native American tribes.
1950’s
The legendary Fontaine (all wooden hop-picking machine) is built and put to use.
1964
Amos welds the Dauenhauer Front-End (the front of the picking machine where hops arrive)
1970’s
The first Combine prototype was developed by Amos Gamache and other Yakima hops farmers. The combine eliminates the manual task of hanging each vine by hand.
2013
Graham retains full ownership of Amos Gamache Farms and establishes Cornerstone Ranches to begin a new Gamache relationship with hop and apple buyers.
2023
Auguste Amos Hagan Gamache arrives and the next generation of Gamache farmers is born.
